Only the Best Teach at Grand Cypress

Supervised by Academy of Golf Director Fred Griffin, students at the Academy of Golf draw upon an immense wealth of golfing talent. Named "Teacher of the Year" by the PGA of America's North Florida Section, Fred Griffin has carefully researched and planned all Academy of Golf programs, emphasizing close contact between teacher and student. To maintain our standards of personal attention, classes are limited to eight students per group, two groups maximum.

        Recognized by GOLF Magazine as one of the 50 best golf instructors in America, Fred Griffin is responsible for the development of all golf instructional programs at the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf. A PGA Class A professional with over 20 years of teaching experience, Griffin has served as the Director of the Academy since it opened in 1986. A superb teacher, Fred was honored as Teacher of the Year for the North Florida section of the PGA. An instruction advisor for several golf publications and a frequent speaker at the PGA educational programs, Griffin currently coaches several PGA and LPGA Tour players.
Todd Meena, Orlando Golf InstructorTodd Meena, Head Instructor, PGA Class A
        Todd was named one of the "Best Teachers" in the state of Florida for 2003-2004 by Golf Digest, and has been a member of the Academy's instructional staff for 18 years. As a former European PGA tour member, Todd has an extensive playing background. He has been the featured instructor on The Golf Academy Live Show, and has led numerous instructional workshops for the PGA of America. Currently, Todd works with beginners to PGA and LPGA Tour players. A native of Southern California, Todd moved to Florida in 1987.
Harry Zimmerman, Orlando Golf IntructionHarry Zimmerman, Head Instructor, PGA Class A
        Recently named one of the "Best Teachers" in the state of Florida for 2007-2008 by Golf Digest, Harry has been a member of the Academy's instructional staff for 18 years and a PGA member since 1983. He was named "Teacher of the Year" for the East Central Chapter, North Florida Section/PGA of America 2000, has appeared on The Golf Channel's Academy Live Show, and was nominated for GOLF Magazine's "Top 100 Teachers" list in 2006 and 2007. Today, Harry works with several PGA and LPGA Tour players.
Gus Holbrook, Orlando Florida Golf TeacherGus Holbrook, Head Instructor, PGA Class A
        Gus was named one of the "Best Teachers" in the state of Florida for 2003-2004 by Golf Digest, and has been a member of the Academy's instructional staff for 17 years. An All-American collegiate golfer at the University of Georgia, Gus placed fifth in the 1977 NCAA Golf Championship. He was also on a US All-Star golf team that included John Cook, Scott Hoch, and Chip Beck. Gus continues to play competitively by competing in PGA sectional, statewide, and national tournaments.
Jon Decker, Orlando Golf TeacherJon Decker, Head Instructor, PGA Class A
        Jon has been named one of the "Best Teachers" in the state of Florida from 2003-2006 by Golf Digest. A graduate of East Carolina University, Jon has been an Academy instructor for the past 15 years. Jon has competed on the Tommy Armour Tour, the Moonlight Tour, the Carolina Mountain Tour and in PGA Sectional Tournaments in Florida and Ohio. Jon thrives on teaching students of all skill levels including nationally recognized junior champions, men and women collegiate players, and PGA members. Jon has also worked with players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour. Jon is with us November-April.
Jason Bell, Orlando Golf TeachersJason Bell, Instructor, PGA Class A
        Jason acquired his PGA credentials in 2000, where he was awarded the Titleist/Footjoy academic scholarship for highest scores in the region. His playing background includes being a team leader at Fort Hays State University, where he was captain of the golf team. He has competed on the Nike and Moonlight Tours and continues to compete in PGA section tournaments. Jason has been teaching for 10 years, including 5 at Grand Cypress Academy of Golf. Jason's patient demeanor and constructive teaching style, coupled with his professional playing experience enable him to work effectively with golfers of all skill levels.
John PageJohn Page, Instructor, PGA Class A
        John has been an Academy instructor for the past 13 years. During this time he has instructed thousands of school hours and private lessons alongside "Top 100" teachers Fred Griffin, Phil Rodgers, and LPGA Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth. John brings a diverse playing and professional background as well as excellent motivational skills to the Academy. His tournament experience includes participation in PGA sectional and state tournaments, and John works with several PGA tour players and teaches several nationally and internationally ranked junior golfers. He is currently responsible for coordinating the Academy's Junior Golf Programs. John is a long time Florida resident and graduate of Florida Southern College.
Barb Mucha, LPGA certified Golf InstructorBarb Mucha, LPGA Instructor
        Barb came to Grand Cypress with an extensive LPGA Tour-playing experience. Her rookie year was in 1987 and by 1990, she had already won her first event. With 5 LPGA Victories behind her, she now looks to pass her skills down to her students. She lives in Orlando and began working with Grand Cypress in 2008 along with Mary Bryan to bring an all-new ladies persepective to Grand Cypress Academy of Golf.
Mary Bryan, LPGA InstructorMary Bryan, LPGA Instructor
        Mary Bryan, an LPGA Tour Player from 1971-1984, currently plays part-time on the LPGA Senior Tour. Past teaching positions include on staff at the Carol Mann Golf School. You also may recgognize her from her vast experience as a golf announcer for over 300 PGA, LPGA, NCAA, and Junior Golf events on all major television networks. Mary was actually the first female to cover a men's major event. She began working with Grand Cypress in 2008 along with Barb Mucha to bring an all-new ladies persepective to Grand Cypress Academy of Golf.
