ORLANDO, Fla. – May 4, 2010 – Robert Scott, Tournament Director at the Villas of Grand Cypress, has been named 2010 Assistant of the Year by the PGA North Florida Section.
Scott, 40, will be among the honorees at the annual NFPGA Awards Banquet and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in December. He was selected the overall section winner from a list of four chapter winners, with Scott representing the section’s East Central Chapter.
A native of Brockton, Mass., Scott joined the staff at the Villas of Grand Cypress in July of 2006, after serving as General Manager of the Bobby Jones Golf Club in Atlanta since 2000. A graduate of Augusta State, Scott began his career in the golf industry in 1992 with American Golf, positioned in Augusta.
“To be recognized by my peers is the most special part of this award,” said Scott, who also serves as first assistant golf professional at the golf resort. “I just work hard, put everything into my job and take pride every day in being golf professional.”
Raised in a military family, Scott’s introduction to golf was as a small boy on California’s famed Monterey Peninsula. Although he did not play golf then, he walked to and from school along the military base golf courses, pocketing lost golf balls. “Little did I know that golf would someday become my career,” he said.
Scott now resides in Orlando with his wife Larissa and sons Robbie and Stevie.
